How did we get here?

That feeling of wanting to leave everything behind to change your life?
Leaving a permanent job, family, friends, your region… overcoming your fears and taking the leap… not so easy!!
And yet, that is the choice we made in June 2020.

Both originally from Normandy, working respectively in sales and as an administrative assistant, we felt that at the age of 46 it was the right moment for a career change.

Our motivations for this new life project were many, but the main one was to be closer to our daughter Mathilde, 21, who had been living in Marseille for two years. We had suffered greatly from the distance.
Of course, the desire to create a family business, to take on new challenges, and to give a new meaning to our professional lives while maintaining a good quality of life were also strong motivations.

But why a campsite… and this one in particular?
A career change, a change of life, yes… but doing what?
By bringing together our skills, our talents, and our passion, we thought: why not a campsite?

One year to find our happiness!
We visited many campsites, but none of them truly convinced us. Until the day we visited Camping Les Cruses* — and then it was love at first sight, despite a major Cévenol storm that very day. Welcome to the Cévennes of Ardèche!!!

The decision was made, each of us independently but with the same strong desire: to settle in a place like this, where you find the peace of unspoilt, authentic nature, the charm of terraced landscapes with their stone walls, and centuries-old chestnut trees. A true family-run campsite, human-sized and typically Ardèche.

All that was left was to talk to our son Sacha, aged 16.
So easygoing that he approved everything immediately.

The challenges:
Not to mention the health crisis, which seriously disrupted our plans — we buy, we don’t buy, we buy again, we don’t buy anymore… In short, we did not face any real obstacles in making this project happen. Proof that when something is meant to be, it simply happens!

Was it recklessness, carefreeness, or simply a fierce determination to make our dream come true?
Only time will tell whether we were right or wrong!

For now, we have just completed our first season and are very happy with our career change. We are confident we made the right choice, we already love this new profession, and we will do everything we can to ensure you enjoy the best possible holidays with us at Camping Les Cruses* in southern Ardèche.
